A Surf Holiday is the perfect combination for those who are looking to improve their surfing level and have a nice time enjoying it. All our packages have surfing lessons with all the equipment necessary so that you keep yourself busy during the day and also have your time to relax with other guests and crew in the Camp commodities or at the beach.
All levels are welcome, and the staff will follow and help you every day with all the things you need to have the best of the experiences.
This is an international hostel and a typical 'Posada' in the middle of Playa Carmen, Santa Teresa, a few steps from the beach, in one of the best spots to surf and enjoy the suggestive colors of the sunset on the ocean.
In La Posada, we offer a common area with a billiard, ping pong and some other games, a lounge atmosphere with videos and music, hammocks, a communal kitchen, and a swimming pool. We love to gather, have family dinner, and unite with all cultures. Come join us and be part of the La Posada family.
You will have the option to choose a private room with private bathroom, AC and cable tv or a bed in a 6 people shared dorm with a private bathroom. Those rooms are also equipped with Wi to Fi and AC.
Location
Hostel La Posada is located in Playa Carmen, only 100 meters from the beach, 50 meters from the best supermarket where you will find everything you need, 200 meters from the intersection, where banks are located, and a few meters from bars, restaurants, pharmacy, and a laundry.
The best surf point is a few minutes' walk from Santa Teresa.
Santa Teresa basically consists of the main street parallel to the sea where you can find all the restaurants, bars, and surf shops.
And if you want just one day to relax under your personal palm tree, you can head to Mal País side, which offers a chill atmosphere, local fish market, and some secluded beach areas. This is also the place where the Cabo Blanco National Park starts and in case you are a nature to animal to hiking lover the park has some great options for you.

Surf beaches around Santa Teresa
Playa El Carmen is the most popular spot in this laid back Santa Teresa surf area. It is an excellent open beach break for all standards. Surfing Playa Santa Teresa is a mix of sand and volcanic rock which create some barrel riding waves. Hermosa offers gentler waves, an excellent spot for beginners.
Air temperature in Santa Teresa is the same year round 32°C. The seasons can be divided in two: From December to April you have the Dry Season, and from May to November the Wet Season. The busiest time for tourism in Costa Rica is the Dry Season.
Santa Teresa is a year round surf destinations. From April to October is the larger swell season. From December to March waves are smaller but nice and clean, usually around 4 foot and it is probably the best time to stay at a Santa Teresa Surf Camp. The Wind is not usually a major factor and glassy offshore conditions are usually best in the morning.
The area has dozens of waves off the beaten track waiting to be explored and surfed from Manzanillo in the north and around to Montezuma on the other side. Come Surf Santa Teresa with us...

How did you like the accommodation?
I booked a package including 7 nights, surfing, yoga, breakfast and some other perks included. Fantastic deal!
Location is perfect! Right off the strip where all the best restaurants and businesses are in Santa Teresa, a minute walk to the beach entrance, perfect waves every day.
The hostel has a great pool with an incredible art piece, lovely wood finishings throughout the dining and common area. Well landscaped property with plenty of greenery and flowers.
Best of all was definitely the staff! They all spoke great English and were tremendous help when it came to explaining services, serving food and drinks, booking shuttles and activities, giving advice on restaurants, and crucially... boosting my confidence before my surf lessons. I was nervous from a bad experience last year in Mexico. Their partnering surf instructors were amazing! (I caught my first green waves! ☺️ Thank you Juan and Pablo

How did you like the accommodation?
I stayed at La Posada for 10 days when I was in town. The staff are inviting and friendly from the moment you arrive. The hang out area is sociable, but the staff do a good job of quieting the place down at 11pm, so its a great place for a good night's sleep as well as meeting cool people. The dorm rooms are really nice for the price, and more spacious than other options. The cleaner does an amazing job, and the place is really quite clean. Breakfast is free with your stay, and its pretty frigging good (when I was there it was fresh tropical fruit, with a pancake and granola). Location is ideal, because its right in the hub of town, but up the road slightly to avoid dust. Excellent proximity to surfing and lots of places (including La Posada itself) to rent boards from. 10/10 would recommend, you'll get a good sleep and meet cool people if you stay here.

How did you like the accommodation?
I had one of the best holidays of my life.
Hostel La Posada is the perfect chilled space to disconnect from the busy city life and to flow into a different time-space.
The hostel is a perfect place for anyone looking for a comfortable and Costa Rican experience, as it has not at all a cookie cutter feel.
The owners Guillermo and Ramiro and the all the staff are very welcoming and genuine, I felt like I was with family after 2 days.
I had a private room on the ground level with a nice hammock outside to take naps after surf lessons.
The breakfast pancakes are great!
One wakes up with the Roosters wake up call from the neighboring houses, what a treat!
The hostel has a tall mango tree right by the gazebo where the common area is located under, and a number of trees pass by and sit and sing. And sometimes squirrels are going up and down.
The rooms are decorated with amazing murals which make the atmosphere very artistic.
The Pool is great! One cools off there whenever one wants. Which in my case was often.
I let the hostel booked my surf lessons for me with a local instructor, Victor. I had a blast and I learned how to stand on the board from the first day.
We were going to a neihbouring beach called Cabuya because the waves there are perfect because they are long.
But I also went alone to surf at hermosa beach once I got the hang of it.
There are lots of little food places called Sodas, they are the real deal.
I went to soda La Amistad, just like 50 meters from la Posada to eat Casados prepared by Doña Goyita, they are awesome and the price is great. They also has nice burgers.
I also went often to Taco Corner to eat Burritos. They are awesome as well. The Mechada burrito and the Tuna one were my best picks. But i tried all of them and after surf lessons I was happy and full with a burrito in my stomach.
There are 2 entrances to the beach close by. It only takes like 5 minutes to be on the beach.
The sunsets were awesome. The people staying at the hostel and also some staff that was off duty would all go to the beach around 5 to chill and watch the sunset.
I had a amazing experience.
And I will probably come back very soon
How were the surf lessons?
Yes. I really liked my surf lessons. I learned a lot on the first day. And i was able to stand on the board from day one.
The instructors give you advice and we had reviews to watch videos after some lessons to see ourselves and learn from the mistakes we were making

A HUGE thank you to everyone at Hostel La Posada - we just finished our stay over the last 6 days there and had an incredible time.
What really made with stay special, were the people we shared it with. The staff at La Posada are some of the best people we have had the pleasure of meeting. They are incredibly easy going, accommodating , and happy to help you however they can to make sure you have the best stay possible. It got to the point when we saw them off work at the beach or down on the strip we would stop and say hi - I even bumped into one of them out surfing down at the beach!
They really felt like a family and we are so grateful for the experience we had. We would recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere, and a cosy and charming location just steps from the beach and Santa Teresa strip.
All the best to you La Posada and we hope to see you again!
