Talalla Surf welcome guests from all over the world and all year round – nearly 1400 guests from over 60 countries over the last 5 years to be precise! – to our week long Surf Camp and Surf & Yoga Retreats which provide people the opportunity to experience something unique if you’re new to surfing with our world to class beginner 'Level 1' surf coaching, yoga for surfers program and a big dose of fun in beautiful south Sri Lanka.
Our programs run from Sunday to Saturday, limited to 6 beginner spots available per week.
Daily In to Water Surf Coaching:
You will have daily sessions to make the most of the conditions and will surf until your group’s stoke is satisfied! Our policy on our surf coaching sessions is “surf until you're done”, our coaches don’t have a timer and are not here to interrupt your session.
Your group will have its own dedicated surf coach who will pay individual attention to each person within the group to make sure that you guys get the most out the coaching and progress to your own goals. These sessions will occur at the surf break most appropriate for you and your progression.
Daily Video Reviews & Workshops:
You will have a videographer also coming down with you and your coach to each session to film each of your waves, this way your surf coach can break down your technique and progression more specifically once you are back at the Surf Camp, during your daily video review and surf workshop sessions.
Location
We are located in prime position to take advantage of the waves both on the east and west side of Dondra, the Southern Tip of Sri Lanka. Our Surf Coaches are all incredibly professional and have lived in South Sri Lanka for a number of years now and have a lot of secret spots up their sleeves for you to take advantage of!
We’re also quite lucky with the weather here in Talalla as it is pretty consistent throughout the year so you will definitely be coming over to warm temperatures. Even during rainy season, when it does rain it is usually just for 20 to 30 minutes and it feels nice as the temperatures drop a bit :)
Our camp is based from the beautiful Talalla Retreat where you will be surrounded by a beachfront, relaxed environment that welcomes great times shared with like to minded people.
We are able to offer multiple accommodation types for your stay, ranging from the ‘Sea View Villas’, to the luxurious poolside ‘Deluxe Villas’ and the fun and sociable environment of the ‘Bungalows’ and the 'Dorm', with something to fit every budget.
Our packages are all inclusive, Sunday to Saturday, with 6 nights accommodation and full board meals.

Beginner Surf Lessons
Our Level 1 program has been designed specifically for guests who have none or just a bit of previous surfing experience, being that in whitewash or green waves. We spend the first days on whitewash, here we go through the correct technique for paddling, popping up, functional stance and turning. We then head to green waves where we consolidate the things we learnt in the whitewater!

Season
November - March is the dry season and has the most consistent surf.
Weligama is a perfect beginner and intermediate surf break. It is arguable the most consistent beach break on the South Coast.
Only a quick 4KM and ten minutes by tuk-tuk from Weligama is the idyllic Mirissa. A quiet stretch of beach that has turquoise and crystal clear waters on beaches fringed by palms.
Mirissa is an established stop-off for surfers, with two breaks at either end of the beach. There is a right-hander reef break near the rocks that doesn’t generate much power, that is great for those who are progressing on to reef. And an equally good left-hander close to the harbour.
