Nothing draws debate quite like surfing, whether you’re disputing recent WSL judging calls or sharing your view on SUP’s in the line-up, surfing has always caused arguments and feverous debates among its loyal followers.

The video in this article, which you can watch further down, is only sure to bring more debate to a sport that characteristically doesn’t like new stuff straight away… remember how everyone reacted with the arrival of new board shapes?

We think the video is amazing and could potentially open up a lot of possibilities in regards to tow surfing or simply having fun in smaller conditions when on your surf holidays.

The Freefly Alta 8 drone boasts a staggering eight propellers with a max RPM of 6300 and comes with quite a hefty price tag, retailing at a whopping £13,995. But who knows, if it takes off (no pun intended) who knows how much it will cost in a year or two. Remember how expensive flat screen TV’s were when they first came out?

We think this could be hugely beneficial in the world of tow surfing in regards to water safety; imagine a surfer was towed in by a drone with the ski’s only there for the safety of the riders with a dedicated drone technician safely guiding surfers from the safety of a boat or on the land. Here at Surf Holidays we would just like to use it to tow around some beautiful coves and islands when on one of our many warm water destination surf holidays.

Check out the video below and let us know what you would do with this high performance drone in the comments section or on our Facebook page.
