You can enjoy a Portuguese paradise at our big, beautiful beach house, located only a 3 minute walk from the best surf beach this close to Lisbon. Take one of our awesome surf classes, or rent a board and suit and head over to our semi to private beach. There are no crowds, only great waves. While you’re with us at home, you can lay on the grass, swim in the big swimming pool, enjoy the bar outside with new friends, use the outdoor bbq or fire a pizza in the wood to burning oven.
Our shared spaces include a large, cozy lounge area with handmade furniture, games, instruments, and a warm, roaring fireplace. There is an outside bar area with grill and wood to burning oven, a big lawn and swimming pool, hammocks, and warm outdoor shower. Our kitchen is modern and fully equipped to put together excellent meals.
Our comfy sleeping quarters include 2 large dorms, a small female dorm, one mixed 4 to bed dorm, and two private rooms.
We offer amazing and affordable surf classes, dinners and barbeques, day tours and camping tours, shuttles to and from Lisbon and the airport, and laundry services, lockers for your stuff, slots during the week where guests can sign up and take classes, movie nights, and other fun activities.
We know a ton about Lisbon and the surrounding areas so don’t hesitate to ask for our help in planning more adventures.
Location
We are located in the quaint beach town of Costa da Caparica, right across the bridge from Lisbon. Transportation to and from the hostel is a cinch. You can organize shuttles and tours with us, take an e to scooter, walk to the bus to stop, train, or 10 to min ferry and into Lisbon. Downtown Costa is a short bike to ride or a leisurely 15 min walk away.
What makes our location extra special is that our beach is semi to private, which means that it doesn’t get overwhelmed during the high season like other beaches in the area. Grab a board and suit and walk right down the path to the beach in 3 minutes!

Costa da Caparica
Level: All Levels
Costa da Caparica is great for all levels because large swells for advanced surfers on the outside are channeled by the scattered rock peninsulas into smaller waves for beginners toward the beach.

Downtown Lisbon city itself does not have a beach and walking around siteseeing you may be oblivious to the fact that dozens of beautiful white sandy surf beaches are only a 5 minute car drive away (Or 4 train stops!)
The surrounding beaches pick up all the swells the Atlantic have to offer making it one of the most consistent surf destinations in the World.
The area has a good selection for all standards. Closest to the city would be Caxias & Santo Amaro de Oeiras. Caxias is a beautiful beach that on its day can produce perfect lefthander barrels. Oeiras is more of a winter wave and is one of the best waves in Portugal.
Next stop is Carcavelos, probably Portugal's most famous wave. Its one of the best beach breaks in Europe and regularly hosts National competitions. It suits all standards, a perfect place to learn and a great place to score some fast beach barrels with multiple peaks along the 1km stretch of beach.
There are many other spots along the coastline that runs from Lisbon out to Estoril & Cascais. Long boarders will love Sao Pedro and short boarders will thrive on spots like Poca and Sao Joao. Then on the other side of Cascais there is the stunning long white sandy Guincho beach, one of Portugal's most consistent surf spots, usually best in the morning as it can be exposed to afternoon onshore winds.
Across the river Tejo in Setubal, a 20 minute drive away, is the less crowded Costa de Caparica. Perfect for beginner/intermediates as the man made jetties create nice consistent waves. The beach stretches for 30kms and all of it is surfable!
Lisbon is also a great base to explore other regions. The surf mecca of Ericeira is only 35 minutes drive away and 1 hour north is Peniche, host of the WSL World Tour every October.

How did you like the accommodation?
The accomodation was great. Clean and comfortable with helpful staff and a friendly atmosphere. It was a little bit far away from the centre and public transport routes but the free bikes made this ok. More bikes would have been nice, as sometimes there's wasn't enough for everyone. Very close to the beach and local supermarket.
How were the surf lessons?
The beaches were beautiful, the waves were good, the instructors were great and the lessons were good value if you availed of the discount and booked in bulk.

How did you like the accommodation?
My stay at 7 Waves Surf Hostel was very enjoyable! The host made sure everyone was involved and always had activities which people could join in the hostel, in the nearby town and in Lisbon!
There was such a good community feel and we often did things together such as cook meals, watch movies and plan outings. It is also a really comfortable place, very well kept, with lots of places to relax and things to do like foosball, table tennis and swimming - it's altogether a very beautiful, well put together, artsy hostel. The staff are all very approachable and hard working.
At 7 Waves it is so easy to relax, make friends, have fun and enjoy an awesome surf holiday - even if you go alone as I did (there were quite a few solo travellers there). Thank you so much 7 Waves team! Alison
How were the surf lessons?
The lessons were geared towards the students' abilities and were planned well! The instructors gave us very clear tips on technique to get us started and it wasn't long before we were in the water catching waves!
While in the sea the instructors continued to give feedback and support in order to catch as many waves as possible and they were very aware of our safety as well! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, feel I have learnt and developed a skill and made friends along the way! Good vibes - Thank you 7Waves team! Alison

How did you like the accommodation?
very nice atmosphere, beautiful colours and design
advantages of this accomodation: ping pong table outside, possibility for a barbecue, 2 kitchens to cook your own food, supermarket only 5 mins by walk away
bus transport a little bit complicated, have to walk into the city of costa de caparica, which is like 25min away, but a good alternative is uber ( which doenst exist everywhere)
How were the surf lessons?
motivated coach, beach was 10mins by walk away

How did you like the accommodation?
Great accommodation, amenities and community. The team was very welcoming and helpful. Perfect if you're travelling solo and looking to meet people and connect with others.
How were the surf lessons?
The nearby beach was always empty, a short walk away and seemed to be good for different skill levels.

How did you like the accommodation?
It's a beautiful accomodation! Very homey, all the amenities you could ask for and just a short walk from the beach. We surfed, swam in the sea, in the pool, lounged in the hammock and felt like we were in heaven!
How were the surf lessons?
The instructor, Miguel, is an excellent teacher! He gave great tipps and made sure we felt comfortable, whether surfing on the inside or outside. We learnt a lot and can recommend the school wholeheartedly!
